Amber (Amer) Palace, which is also known as Amber Fort, was constructed in 1592 A.D. by Raja Man Singh, who was a general in the empire of Akbar. Its construction was later enlarged during the reign of Raja Jai Singh I. Situated at a distance of 11 km from Jaipur, this architectural wonder sleeping over Maota Lake demonstrates Indo-Islamic style of architecture.
The fort’s premises consist of four courtyards containing the Palace of Man Singh I, gardens, the Tripolia Gate, Lion Gate, Diwan-I-Aam, Sheesh Mahal, and Sukh Mahal, among other buildings.
