  • In 1956, the area got declared to be protected and a bird sanctuary by Forestry Departments.
  • The park got designated as a Reserved Forest upon Rajasthan Forest Act, dating back in 1967.
  • In 1972, the hunting got strictly forbidden under the Wildlife Protection Act.
  • The park also got declared as a Ramsar Site back in 1981.
  • Finally, in the year 1982, the area got declared as a National Park.
  • The park became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.
