Jawai Leopard Sanctuary is nestled in the lap of Aravalli Hills of Pali district in the Rajasthan state of India.As the title suggests, it is a land of thriving population of leopards.Otherwise known as Jawai National Park for boasting a rich vegetation of Floral and Faunal species.

Jawai Leopard Sanctuary is a beauteous landscaped realm that is sprawled over an area of around 60 kilometres housing 16 villages.With utterly attractive ecosystem that includes grasslands, rugged hills, rocky terrains, scrublands and lush valleys. These landscapes are as well the habitat for leopards and other wild animals.

Over the period of time, anti-poaching acts have been initiated in order to conserve leopards and wildlife population from illegal hunting. Park also offers well-guided safaris and educational program to educate and to give visitors an insight into the need of the hour, which is wildlife conservation.

Other than being a wild place for sighting big cats like leopards, wild animals residing in the park are Hyenas, wild boar, Chital, Nilgai and Sambar deer. An array of reptilian along and insect species can be seen.

A diverse population of approximately 100 species of birds including migratory as well as resident birds are spotted in the sanctuary.

Earlier in the days, there used to be a conflict between humans and leopards due to the expansion of agriculture practices, which was highlyresulting in the depletion of leopard population and their habitats.

Being such a massive concern, leopard conservation acts and awareness campaigns started getting implemented in order to prevent illegal poaching and preserving their habitat.

Back in February 2010, this place was declared as a ‘Reserve’ by the government of Rajasthan upon following the same agenda.

Finally, in 2013, this place was officially called and established as ‘Jawai Leopard Sanctuary’ with a continuous aim to conserve leopards and wildlife overall.

Jawai Leopard Sanctuary houses a diverse range of Floral species, including deciduous forests, vibrant scrublands, lush grasslands, herbs, wildflowers and plants that has medicinal properties. Some of the primary ones are as follows:

Forests that include trees like Sal, Teak, Bamboo, Khejri, Dhonk and Mahua.

Scrublands and Grasslands includes Acacia species, Ziziphus, Milkweed, Buffel Grass, Chakra grass, Cacti and spear grass.

Herbs that include Morning glory, Cassai fistula, Lantana Camara, Creeping Woodsorrel and numerous others.

Wildflower such as Desmodium, Oxalis and Marigold.

Medicinal plants include Turmeric, Ashwagandha, Ginger, Neem, Tulsi, Brahmi and numerous others.

Jawai National Park resides faunal species that are huge in variation. From Mammals to Birds and from Reptiles to Amphibians as well as species of insects, this sanctuary is more than just housing notable population of leopards.

Mammals that are primarily leopards, which are approximately 60 in number.

Others are Indian Wolf, Chital, Nilgai, Hyena, Indian Fox, Sambar Deer, Blackbuck, Jackals etc.
